During Mughal’s reign, there was a Kevada flower jungle at the foot of a hill. It is said Ganapati resides there at the foot of the hill. The temple is situated there by a Brahmin named Bhide. It is said that Bhide had a vision of Lord Ganesha talking to him and as per his vision he found Lord Ganesha on the place.

The Ganapati Temple of Redi is around 30kms from Vengurla. The town where the Ganapati temple is situated contains some iron ore mines. The idol of Ganapati was found in an iron ore mine in the year 1976 near the port of Redi. . .

A local individual of the place found the Ganapati idol in his dreams, and managed to cinvince his colleagues to dig the seashore and bring take out the idol. After investing, people found out that the statue was created by the Pandavas. The height of the statue is 6 ft and the width is 4 ft. The Lord Ganesh idol has two arms and is in a sitting position. The idol of the mouse was found after two months.

Sangli Ganapati temple is 47 kms away from Kolhapur and 4kms away from Sangli Railway. The holy temple is made on the eastern banks of the Krishna River. The construction of the Ganpati temple began in the year 1814. The duration taken to construct the temple was 30 years and the temple was completed in the year 1845.

The place is also known as Dakshin Kashi because of its seven ghats on the banks of the Krishna River. The huge statue of the Ganesha idol is made with a single black coloured stone. One of the unique facts of the temple is it’s fish-shaped towards the back of the temple.
